Medical Immersion Summer Academy (MISA)

 

Highland Hospital and Samuel Merritt University, Oakland, CA | July 2019

I participated MISA at Highland Hospital at Oakland, CA, where I:

  • Shadowed with clinicians at Highland Hospital at Oakland, experiencing medical practices in emergency department, specifically each day’s novelty and thus excitement; witnessed the seamless way the doctors work together as well as patients’ appreciation and respect. It has given me a new appreciation for the sanctity of preserving every single life.

  • Participated biomedical research seminars; received hands-on training of vitals, EKG, CPR, splinting, suturing, ultrasound, etc.; observed clinical and laboratory operation of blood tests and biopsy.

  • CPR certified​, 2019 - present

       Bloodborne Pathogen certified, 2019 - present
